New Lens Spring Break Experience

Due to the New Lens’ partnership with Outward Bound Voyageur School the mentees are able to participate in the New Lens’ Spring Break Experience. This three day experience is set to build the mentees skills in leadership, teamwork, and responsibility while teaching them necessary wildlife techniques. Also, this experience is to prep the mentees for New Lens’ Annual Canoeing and Hiking Experiences.

New Lens’ mentees enjoy that they have access to more activities outside of New Lens’ weekly Saturday Activities by engaging in New Lens’ after school program. For this semester’s after school program activity the New Lens’ mentees will be participating in fencing thanks to New Lens’ partnership with Minnesota Sword Club.

New Lens is extremely fortunate to have an amazing staff that takes extra steps to make incredible experiences for our mentees. Glo Martin, New Lens' High School Program Coordinator, made that known by renting out a theater at Woodbury 10 Theater a day before the premiere of Black Panther with help with WEQY radio station that is home to New Lens Radio.

New Lens at the Super Bowl Experience

New Lens is about giving our mentees experiences that they wouldn't normally have, but also New Lens understand that there is time to have fun. New Lens got an opportunity to take some mentees to the Super Bowl Experience for a night of fun. The mentees had a great time throwing footballs, running through obstacle courses, and meeting NFL players. New Lens staff and mentees can't wait for the next Super Bowl in Minnesota.

Mentor Highlight

Leavon D. Fields born and raised in St. Paul is currently an Intervention Specialist at Parkway Middle School in St. Paul Minnesota a middle school girls softball coach. He has a well-rounded 15 plus year background in education that includes seven years working in Special Education at Jackson Elementary and five years working in the Program for Social Development (P.S.D.) at Harding High School.
